What SB 574 does
Per the California Lawyers Association's summary (October 27, 2026), Governor Newsom signed SB 574 on September 30, 2026, and its requirements take effect January 1, 2027. They apply to all lawyers licensed in or practicing in California. In short, the new Business & Professions Code section 6068.1 and an amendment to CCP 128.7:
- bar delegating the practice of law to generative AI;
- bar entering confidential, personal identifying or other nonpublic information into a generative AI system unless access is restricted to the attorney and people the attorney authorizes;
- require reasonable steps to verify AI output, including all case and statutory citations, and require the attorney responsible for a filing to personally verify its citations;
- require disclosure of generative AI use to the court for documents submitted to the court. The CLA notes the form and timing of that disclosure are not yet clear.

Within 10 business days of the intake call. Full refund if it is not delivered in that time.
What this is, and what it is not
- A done-for-you service, not templates. Each pack is written from your intake call: your tools, your staff, your filing habits.
- Not legal advice. 013 Labs is not a law firm. We do the drafting and organizing; you are the lawyer, and you decide what your firm adopts and how you read the statute.
- Courts and the State Bar may issue guidance (for example on disclosure form). The upkeep plan exists for that; we can’t predict it.
- We’re new to this offer. There are no testimonials here because we don’t have any yet.
How it works
- Order the pack. Darren emails you within one business day to schedule the intake call.
- 45-minute intake call: which AI tools you and your staff use, for what, and how filings get checked today.
- You receive the pack in editable form within 10 business days, review it, and we revise once.
